Joker quizzes
18/12/2019

"This was a style of quiz we were using several years ago.

The pub had a go ahead owner who didn't mind putting his hand in his pocket and we used to have a joker quiz on a Sunday night, six rounds of five questions in various subjects, you were given the subjects in advance and picked which one you wanted as your joker for which you received double points, the subjects usually had a strange one amongst them.

There was then a jackpot (Three questions at the end) which went up every week as the jackpot cost a pound to enter, and when it was won the owner used to kick it off again with fifty quid as a sweetener.

Some Sunday nights they were queuing up. I used to try and work it out that every team would get one correct Jackpot answer and hopefully one or two would get two but I tried to make sure no-one was going to get three until the money was worth winning. Then I would give them all a fighting chance, hoping it would be shared."
